Reflective Post

My experience throughout this class of EME2040 has been a great learning journey. I have learned that technology is a great part of becoming a successful teacher. Throughout this course I have accomplished many assignments where I have been allowed to use my own imagination to create several lesson or informative websites. For example, I was assigned to create a lesson plan with three other classmates. This lesson plan took several steps and critical thinking in order to have sufficient information to finish the assignment. Working on collaborative assignments has demonstrated to me, that working together to accomplish a goal using technology resources has now become way more useful for teachers and students. Many ideas and suggestions are now posted online to be reachable for teachers as well for students for academic resources.

Also being able to work on digital badges every week, has now opened many useful website for me to look forward to for my classroom. The purpose for the digital badges was for us students to explore the several websites that can be helpful when trying to create a powerpoint, an online draft, picture slideshows, quizzes, study guides, and so much more. I was able to explore outside of my own comfort zone, and be able to learn so much that teachers are actually provided with just simple computer technology. From using web 2.0 tools, there are also the many subjects we have talked about using the discussion tab in our canvas. These Discussions have been a great learning experience, because not only was I sharing my thoughts and teaching strategies but I was learning from other students as well. Overall my learning journey in Intro of Technology for Educators class has been a perfect combination of useful and rewarding experience. Now I really do feel like I am able to take a step forward in my future teaching career.

1. Electronic note-taking, is a new form of taking notes using a source of technology such as a computer or an iPad. This note-taking method creates different types of styles of taking notes. There are several websites that allow you to take notes using creative backgrounds or themes. For example, I have been using electronic note-taking to create notes on important work duties, cooking recipes, and a lot more. This easy and more practical way of taking notes on computers or tablets, has and will continue to grow. As years go by, students are required to take down more notes than previous school years. There is so much information to learn, that it is always good to have a good method of taking notes just from an electrical device. 
2. Plagiarism, is when someone takes and uses information they read as their own. This problem has risen so much that there have been rules and laws based on plagiarism. Taking someone else's credit is not fair for the person that wrote the information, and for the readers. In collage there are many classes that teach the rules on how to avoid plagiarizing, this is one of the most important subjects to learn. Having good knowledge to how to give credit when needed, is highly recommended to master. Having my own experiences on not knowing how to cite work that is not mine, to learning more and more from each class. The sense of learning how to properly cite work can make a students academic papers seem more organized and properly written to accommodate the teachers and possibly other readers. 
3. Critical Reading, has become one of the main readings done in any academic school level. The purpose for students is for them to know what reading  they are conducting. According to the book, " Some school include critical viewing skills in the curriculum so students become aware for the influences of media images on consumers and citizens" (pg.114). The proper understanding of critical reading opens up the door to understanding information in a better source. In the past i have been required to critical read an article and analyze and break it down, this practice has helped me view the different point of views of the author and to even identify if the information is creditable.

1. The use if tablets, smartphones, and laptops is becoming more and more necessary as times goes by. Tablets are small flat screens similar to the size of a notebook. This piece of technology is able to basically do anything a regular computer would. According to the text book, " Tablets and smartphone can be used of thousands of instructional purposes, including: Supporting learning in every subject area-interactive world maps in social studies, online, and poetry collections in language arts" ( page 6). Laptops are also another useful source of technology to keep in mind for teachers and students. As a collage students, taking my laptop to class became more useful than taking my notebook. In my laptop I was able to type down my notes as the class went by, without being afraid of loosing them later on. I could also look up resources talked about in the classroom and place them as a bookmark, so when it was time to start on my homework, I would have my resources ready. 
2. Technology -based textbook is a new form of teachers creating a new way to organize their information based on how a text book would be put together. With this form of new textbook, teachers are also allowed to provide students with their own academic ideas. This new way of creating a new text book for students gives students an opportunity to learn more from the teacher and also from similar authors to open their minds to new information and to learn more of the reading along the way.
3. Social media, is creating an up rise in the communication between students and teachers. Every year there are more and more students connecting to any sort of social media. The use of social media for most young kids is to communicate with friends and to see what is going on around the world, but imagine how great it would be for teachers to be able to communicate with their students even out of school hours. Based on the text book, "With the use of social media teachers can feature more than lesson plans and educational materials designed to show the talent of teacher. It can engage students, join learning communities, and enliven instruction"(page 16). Teachers using social media to create communication with students, can in the future be the biggest bridge of keeping in touch with students, parents, and teachers on academic topics.
